<p>Oxfordshire has an ambitious target of achieving a smokefree Oxfordshire by 2025, meaning less than 5% of the population smokes (currently 65,000). We know most of our smokers are likely to be on lower incomes and therefore more likely to live certain areas in Oxfordshire, than others. We need robust insights on residents who smoke attitudes to and plans for quitting smoking and information on whether the interventions currently being delivered are a) known and b) supported by residents who smoke. Some of this knowledge will inform future interventions and whether they are receiving the reach intended, by providing a baseline measure of knowledge, attitudes and behaviours. The following characteristics of the smoking population would need to be in place in order to be on track to achieving the &lt;5% ambition. The survey would inform where our smoking population is against these characteristics. 1) All smokers are planning to quit in the next 3 months. 2) All smokers feel confident that their quit attempt will be successful 3) All smokers know the basics of a good quit. Get advice/support from local stop smoking service, use a quit aid, like patches, E-cig 4) All smokers don&rsquo;t smoke in public when children could be present or passing. 5) All smokers don&rsquo;t smoke in the presence/sight of children when at home/private property.
