Tender description

The Royal Hospital Donnybrook is a 170 bed facility providing 112 Rehabilitation Beds including Orthopaedic, Stroke, Neuro disability and General Rehabilitation of the older person in a post-acute hospitalisation setting, 58 HIQA registered residential care places and a 25 place day hospital service for older persons. The average length of stay for rehabilitation in-patients is between 30 to 90 days. During their inpatient stay, patients have regular medication reviews. Medications are started, stopped or titrated as necessary. This is a core component of the medical care that is provided to all our patients and residents. Tenders are invited for the provision of pharmacy services as detailed below. The tender shall be for a two year period, extendable by three years on a year-by-year basis, subject to any amended terms agreed by mutual consent of the Hospital and the provider. Tenderers are requested to address the requirements, as set out below, in a written proposal to the Hospital. The Royal Hospital Donnybrook’s pharmacy service is defined as: • The supply, dispensing and disposal of medicines and pharmacy products in a safe, efficient and timely manner • Dispensing of medicines on an individual patient basis, in appropriate packaging, to facilitate both supervised administration and self-medication programme. The successful contractor will be expected to work closely and collaboratively with RHD medical and nursing management and staff to provide an efficient patient-centred pharmacy service compliant with all professional and ethical standards. The RHD will require a dedicated clinical pharmacist and clinical technician. It is envisaged that the minimum number of onsite clinical pharmacy time would be 4 hours per week as well as 6 hours/ week for the pharmacy technician. Mobile phone access will be required to a clinical pharmacist and a pharmacy technician when not on site. Further details and tender selection criteria are within tender document.
