Blueways Project Animator For the Donegal Small Islands

Comhar na nOileán CTR wish to appoint an Animator for a project funded by Donegal Local Action Group, LEADER 2014-2022. The Blueways project aims to develop a series of snorkel, canoe, and marine related trails at a number of locations (to be decided in conjunction with the Advisory Committee) on the small Islands of Donegal and adjacent areas as a precursor to the establishment by community and other groups of a much more extensive network of such trails. The trails will be developed bearing in mind National Trails Office guidelines and the requirements of the relevant national governing bodies. An Advisory Committee has been set up with representative of Comhar na nOileán (lead agency for this phase), Donegal County Council, Údarás na Gaeltachta, Comharchumann na nOileán Bheaga and Comharchumann Thoraigh to progress phase one of the project. Comhar na nOileán CTR wish to appoint an Animator for phase one of the development phase of the Blueway for the small Islands of Donegal to include a number of sites/clusters such as: • Cloughaneely - Tory, Inis Bó Finne • Gweedore – Gabhla, Inis Meáin and Inis Oirthir and the adjacent mainland area • And may include the islands in the Rosses – Inis Caorach, Inis Fraoigh and Inis Mhic ‘a Doirn, Island Roy, and exploring the possibility of connecting up eventually with the Arranmore/ Burtonport Blueway. The Blueways Project aims to develop a series of snorkel, canoe or marine related trails at a number of clustered locations as a precursor to the establishment by community and other groups of a much more extensive network of such trails. Overall aim of this assignment – ‘To translate sites/clusters on the Islands of Donegal and adjacent mainland into a packaged product that can be promoted to the local and visiting population thus adding value to the Wild Atlantic Way and other marine initiatives.
