Project Speed Governance and Accountability Workstream Support. On 30th June 2020 the Prime Minister announced a new Infrastructure Delivery Taskforce, named 'Project Speed'. Led by the Chancellor, Project Speed aims to cut down the time it takes to develop, design and deliver vital infrastructure projects and to build "better, greener, faster". The Project Speed programme has eight workstreams one of which focuses on Governance & Accountability, this workstream is driven by a desire to address project delays resulting from slow and/or ineffective governance and to improve decision-making processes within departments and in the centre. A key objective of this work is to review DfT's internal investment approvals and project management office (PMO) governance arrangements and consolidate and strengthen where there is unnecessary duplication or process that does not improve decision making.
