Tender description

he contract is for the provision of a complete abnormal load management service /software for Wirral Council. Approximately 3840 abnormal load movement notifications are received each year (320 per month). This requires specialist software and resource to check movement notifications within the required timescales. This must be undertaken to protect bridge and structural assets over and under the routes of abnormal loads. Depending on the loaded vehicle weight, width or length, the Road Vehicles (Authorisation of Special Types) (General) Order 2003 requires hauliers intending to transport an abnormal load to pre-notify Highway authorities of their intention to move. This gives Highway authorities the opportunity to check that the movement of an abnormal load will not place undue stress on the structures being crossed or will not cause a hazard to other road users.
