Summary of the work This is to support HMPPS Digital to provide a new digital platform to assess the risks and the needs of the service user effectively, and to support the move to a new micro-services architecture. This work is part of the Probation Reform Programme. Specialist role Product manager Expected Contract Length 21 weeks Latest start date Wednesday 1 September 2021 Maximum Day Rate £1147 Who Speclialist Work With User Researcher x 1 Business Analyst x 2 Delivery Manager x 1 Developer / Software Engineer x 4 Technical Architect x 1 Interaction Designer x 1 Content Designer x 1 Subject Matter Expert x 1 What Specialists Work On Delivery of a digital first platform to assess risks and needs of People on Probation and People in Prison. This work is currently in Beta phase and the Product Manager will be expected to develop the platform to achieve two key objectives: a) implement an effective strangler fig pattern on the incumbent software to assess risk and needs whilst b) delivering value to the organisation and meeting user (and societal) needs to provide accurate and timely risk assessments according to the Government Digital Service (GDS) Service Standard. Skills & Experience • Expected to be working to the skills and experience set out on the DDaT guidance for a Snr Product Manager • Have delivered complex technical projects successfully into production / live • Have worked with board level / SCS stakeholders to manage their expectations and get buy-in for the project • Familiar with GDS service standards • Experience delivering projects utilising lean startup principles and methods • Strong communicator with experience in building product narratives at board and across large programmes Nice to Haves • Proven ability to focus teams around delivery at pace • Experience in leading Google Design Sprints • Good understanding of continuous integration and continuous delivery • Worked on a large government programme • Worked on products with an element of measuring risk, or providing a measure that is then consumed elsewhere in a service • Understanding of the need to pragmatically consider the wider budgetary and organisational maturity landscape as part of the architecture development • Expertise in representing key stakeholder interests in pan-organisation communities and working groups Work Location Petty France, London Working Arrangments Remote working with occasional physical meetups to plan (subject to COVID guidelines) Security Clearance Security Clearance (SC) DBS Additional T&Cs The interview process will involve a presentation of work (up to 10 mins) and questions will focus on the skills, experiences and aptitude / cultural fit required for the role.
