<p>1. Bradford Council has been directed by Government to implement a Category C+ Clean Air Zone (CAZ) in order to achieve compliance with the air quality objectives for nitrogen dioxide in the shortest time possible. The CAZ within Bradford District will go live on the 5th January 2022. The location of the CAZ can be seen at Where is the Clean Air Zone? | Bradford Council 2. Bradford Councils Final Business Case submission to Government identified that operators Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) within their fleets would be affected by the implementation of the CAZ. To mitigate the impact, the Council applied for funding to help support these operators where they need to enter the Bradford Clean Air Zone frequently. 3. The Council was successful in an application to the Clean Air Fund (CAF) for &pound;6.416m in capital grant funding for accredited technology or replacement vehicles to improve emissions of around 400 HGVs operating in Bradford. 4. The opportunity now exists for operators to apply for funding towards the cost of CAZ compliant replacement vehicles.
