Award of PS/21/72 - Review of Local Nature Conservation Sites

The Council are seeking to commission a consultant to review, assess and conduct data analysis of 128 Local Nature Conservation sites East Ayrshire holds on its LNCS database with a view to: • Updating the existing information to provide an accurate picture of the biodiversity and/or geodiversity on site each site through desktop review and field surveys; • Determining criteria against which to assess the suitability of each site for LNCS status. A proforma exists for the assessment of sites – North Ayrshire Council used a standard format for their assessments. This may not be appropriate but would provide a starting point. • Determining the geographical extent of each site; • Recommending sites for removal where the biodiversity / geodiversity characteristics have been lost; • Determining whether any new sites should be allocated.
