Tender description
A requirement exists for the procurement of shell cultch material for use in the Loughs Agency’s shellfish habitat enhancement plans for 2022. Loughs Agency wishes to appoint a suitable supplier for shell cultch material for use in shellfish habitat enhancement projects during 2022. Shell cultch needs to be of a suitable type. Types of Suitable Shell Mussel (Mytilus edulis) Oyster (Ostrea edulis) Queen scallop (Aequipecten opercularis) Cockle (Cerastoderma edule) Clam (Mya arenaria) All shell supplied must be free from organic material. Shell cultch must be transported to Lough Foyle for storage at a selected site. Tenderers will supply detailed specification for the shell type, size and quantities they are proposing to delivery and the timeframes for delivery. Information such as how the shell had already been treated (if by heat for commercial shellfish processing, at what temperature and for how long) and how it was stored (location and duration) should also be detailed by tenderers. A delivery plan outlining the material to be sourced, location, delivery vehicles and confirmation of its age and any treatment and invoicing schedule should be agreed with the Agency prior to commencement of the project. Mandatory Requirements / Minimum Standards • Provision of Suitable Shell Cultch Material (mussel, clam, queen scallop, oyster, cockle). • Provision of images of the product intended for delivery for the project. • No organic material present on shell. • A detailed of the planned delivery of the product must be included, all deliveries of the product must be made before the 30th of November. • Delivery and offloading on to shore side site in Lough Foyle for storage. This scientific research work links directly to food production and as such has been deemed as essential work under the Covid-19 guidance supplied by the Department of the Taoiseach.
