Healthcare Services at Heathrow Immigration Removal Centre

NHS England and NHS Improvement hereafter referred to as "the Authority" are seeking to commission a Lead Provider to deliver a range of high-quality healthcare services in a detained setting. Patients at the Heathrow IRCs are based across 2 separate sites for men and a small number of women with an average stay of fewer than 28 days. However, a small but significant proportion of detainees have stayed considerably longer than this in the past. Services include reception and secondary screening, primary care services - including the provision of GP services, minor injury clinics, management of long-term conditions, complex case management, public health screening and immunisations and health promotion, optometry, pharmacy services, primary and secondary care mental health services, substance misuse support and intervention, diagnostics and pathology, Sexual Health Services, smoking cessation, care for older detainees, access to secondary and tertiary care and discharge planning, healthcare administration, portering and cleaning. Healthcare services at the Heathrow IRCs operate 24 hours a day and the healthcare provider will be required to source an appropriate translation and interpreting service to enable the safe delivery of their services.
