<p>North Yorkshire County Council&rsquo;s approach to supporting people with learning disabilities is set out within the Live Well, Live Longer Strategy . The intention is for Shared Lives to play a pivotal role within the accommodation pathway, not only for people with learning disabilities but also for older people, those experiencing mental health issues and young people transitioning into adult social care. Background to the Shared Lives Service Shared Lives offers an alternative to supported living, domiciliary care and care homes. Shared Lives schemes can provide services for a range of people. For example, adults with disabilities, older people with dementia, people with mental health problems, care leavers, disabled young people (16+) in transition to adulthood, parents who have learning disabilities etc. We are looking at commissioning options for any future service and would like to engage with the market to listen to your views.
