Ponfeigh Bridge Replacement

Tender description

South Lanarkshire Council’s Roads and Transportation Service has identified a requirement for the construction of a 36 metre single span proprietary steel bridge at Douglas Water, Lanark. These works will comprise of the following:- - Undertake de-commissioning/re-routing by all relevant utility providers, relevant public bodies and entities (Scottish Water, BT, SEPA and adjacent landowners); - Carry out site clearance; - Set out and installation of reinforced concrete piles to found both north and south abutments. - Build reinforced concrete abutments and wing walls as well as the construction of launching area at south abutment; - Erect proprietary steel bridge in sections at the launching area; - Launch the bridge to its final position; - Build up approach roads to both north and south to level and form embankments to stabilize. - Divert BT cables along the bridge; and - Surfacing bridge approaches and apply finishes A mini competition was conducted under Lot 3 of the South Lanarkshire Council NEC3 Road Contractors Framework Agreement. The following weightings were used to determine the most economically advantageous tender: Quality (Technical) 30% Price (Commercial) 70% In evaluating the Technical element, the Council set out five questions relating to the following:- 1.1.5. Completion of Works 1.1.6. COVID-19 1.2.2. – 1.2.4. Community Benefits A minimum total of 90 Community Benefits points were requested as part of the Technical Envelope.
