Cycleway Wayfinding

Tender description

Provision of consultancy services to London Borough of Waltham Forest to develop a wayfinding strategy for a series of cycle routes in the borough. As part of the Waltham Forest investment programme a number of new cycle routes have been introduced with the intention that they would form part of a London-wide publicised network. The aim of this commission is to develop a rationale to signage in keeping with the existing Transport for London Cycleway signage already implemented on Cycleway 23 (Lea Bridge Road), and across the London-wide network. Deliverables: Development of signage strategy approach for the route network in Waltham Forest using the Transport for London Cycleway signage family - Sides roads and junctions where routes meet other Cycleways will be signed in accordance with the overall borough strategy and naming criteria - Normal side roads will not all be signed and the focus of interaction on routes will be with main roads and other key cycle routes as per Cycleway guidance - A record of each type of sign or navigational aid to be introduced at each location and the implementation requirements that may be required (sign posts, lamp columns, etc) including any new infrastructure (to be minimised) - The content (directional/destination information) to be included on each sign or wayfinding aid - A short report detailing the wayfinding methodology - Schedule of signage and infrastructure that can be passed to appropriate manufacturers for production Included within this commission are 4 defined cycle routes and additional as yet undefined series of Cycleway links, that feed into the network of routes. A delivery plan/schedule is to be developed for each route identifying locations for new wayfinding infrastructure and the specific directional/ destination content at each location.
