Bord na Móna, in partnership with Empower Eco and ERINN Innovation (LIFE IP Peatlands and People), is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified provider to deliver an Accelerator Programme, ‘Accelerate green’ with a focus on sustainability and climate solutions in Boora, Co. Offaly commencing Autumn 2021. Bord na Móna has a proud history of providing sustainable employment to the communities it operates in. We want to continue this tradition as a climate solutions company and to develop new approaches for climate action. To help us achieve this, we have partnered with Empower Eco and ERINN Innovation with the aim to Accelerate highly innovative companies working to solve social and environmental challenges to achieve a low carbon global society. Empower Eco, Irelands Eco Innovation Hub, is a collaboration between Bord na Móna, Enterprise Ireland, Technological University of the Shannon: Midlands, Midwest, Offaly County Council, Offaly LEO, Maynooth University, The Shabra Group and Kilcormac Development Association. This syndicate brings a multi-agency ecosystem of public, private and community bodies to unlock the potential of the Midlands through this national applied centre of research excellence and entrepreneurship which will drive all elements of eco-innovation and sustainability. LIFE IP Peatlands & People, is a 7-year project supporting the realisation of a carbon-neutral, climate-resilient and environmentally sustainable country by 2050, with funding support from the EU LIFE programme. The project focuses on three pillars, a Peatlands Centre of Excellence, a Just Transition Accelerator programme and a People’s Discovery Attraction. The Just Transition Accelerator, lead by ERINN Innovation, is the economic catalyst of the project, with the aim of supporting the Midlands economically. Through this partnership approach, Accelerate Green will be an impact accelerator, focusing on triple-bottom line approach to stimulate growth, job creation and low-carbon circular economies from the Midlands.
