Tender for UAV Services of Topo Survey of Legacy Landfill at Pollardstown, Newbridge, County Kildare

Tender description

This specification is for the procurement of topographic survey by photogrammetry from high resolution images by unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to support the site assessment at Pollardstown legacy landfill site. Tenders are invited from suitably qualified service providers UAV survey services. Pollardstown legacy landfill site consisted of 4 No. of sand and gravel pits which were backfilled with waste material between 1988 to 2004. The sites are in the Townland of Pollardstown, approximately 2.5km to the west of the town center of Newbridge and 5k northeast of Kildare Town in County Kildare. The waste deposits are not all interconnected and as such the site has been divided into distinct areas. The five zones (A, B, C, D & E) are each under separate ownership. The landownership can be provided if necessary to the winning bidder by Kildare County Council. Kildare County Council appointed Consultants in 2020 to prepare a Stage 1 Environmental Risk Assessment and Remediation Plan for the ‘whole site’ in accordance with the EPA Code of Practice and comprising of Tier 2 and Tier 3 Risk Assessments. The topography of the site has been altered by the quarrying and landfilling at the site. It is considered that UAV survey would be the quickest and safest way to survey the site. There was also gaps identified in the survey data for the monitoring well network. The aim of the LiDAR Survey is to obtain appropriate data to undertake detailed engineering design for remediation and support environmental assessments of the site. The area to be surveyed is approximately 63 hectares and the extent of the required LiDAR Survey is shown in the attached documents.
