Tender description

Since the 1970s Puffin Produce has been proud to offer Welsh customers the best Welsh potatoes, grown, picked and packed here in Pembrokeshire. Puffin Produce is now the largest supplier of Welsh produce in Wales, supplying a wide variety of potatoes and seasonal vegetables to multiple major retailers and wholesalers. A full specification is available for download, within this notice, however, in summary the Project Definition is as follows: Puffin Produce are looking to automate their potato packing factory. The solution must address the minimum below quality requirements to meet our needs: o Be able to handle all customer transit packaging according to Puffin Produce portfolio. o Be able to de-stack trays/cartons either automatically/manually from inbound transit packaging CHEP pallets, and deliver transit packaging to the relevant packing line as and when required. o Where possible, all conveyors to be wall/roof mounted. Load calculations should be provided by supplier to confirm the ability for the roof to support any loads. o All high - level conveyors/roller tracks and lower lever roller tables will need to be installed within the limitations of the existing building and allow safe access to maintenance staff at all levels. o All conveyors/transport belts should be fitted with some means to ensure that nothing can fall from height – guarding or other. o Transit packaging should be able to be fed in to case packing machines and automatically received from case packing machine when filled. o Completed tray should be palletised on predefined pallet: Wooden Chep, Plastic Euro Pallet, Wooden Euro Pallet but to be future proofed to allow for expanded range of pallets. o A banding and wrapping solution should be available which ties in with our customer requirements, and meets the minimum H&S requirement. o Corner boards solution to be included following pallet creation. Pallet labelling required post fill. o Any automated palletiser should be designed to so that it fits within the restrictions of the existing building. o It needs to be able to tie-in with existing MES system o It needs to be able to tie in with our existing SCADA solution o All machinery directives related to 2006/42/EC will need to be complied with in particular safety of related parts 13849 – parts 1 & 2 o Metrics, by way of SQL server should be available to use for reporting performance and development.
