<p>The Virtual School Head teacher maintains an overview of the needs of children and young people whichever schools they are attending. The need for a comprehensive programme of individual support for the Looked After Children has been identified to support the improvement of attainment and achievement particularly in Maths and English within this cohort of young people.</p> <p>This service is for children and young people in care who have been identified by the Virtual School Head teacher and the Virtual School Team as ones who would benefit from the support of a Learning Mentor.</p> <p>The Virtual School Head teacher will identify the children and young people in need of the additional support and support the initial communication with the pupils&rsquo; schools or colleges.</p> <p>The learning mentors will support individual pupils to overcome behavioural, social or emotional problems that are affecting their learning.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> Keywords: learning mentors, schools, virtual school, looked after children
