St. Joseph’s National School (Scoil Iósaf) is a co-educational primary school located at Castlemartyr in County Cork. The proposed Summer Works Project relates to the construction of a new mono-pitch roof over an existing flat roof. The works will require decommissioning and removal of an existing water storage tank. The flat roof area of the building is approximately 105 m2 which is situated directly over existing Staff Toilets, Kitchen & Store and a Resource Room in the original school building.It is proposed to construct a new mono-pitch roof including rooflights over an existing flat roof following the line of the General-Purpose Hall from eaves down to the existing flat roof parapet. The works would allow for building up new gable walls and roof with tile finish to match existing and include necessary flashings, new fascia & soffit to match existing and new rainwater goods etc. It is also proposed to incorporate new insulation within the proposed roof to improve the existing school building energy performance. The Scope of Works includes the replacement / redressing of localised Lead Flashing. Upon completion of the external roofing works it is proposed to redecorate all internal affected areas with paint finish in selected colour.
