Coleg Gwent - Library Management System

Tender description

Coleg Gwent requires a fully hosted and managed system to serve the college with around 10,000 FTE learners. We would only require basic cataloguing and reporting, along with standard desk / issue services from the staff element of the system (we would not require any kind of acquisition modules etc.). The College would require a modern online catalogue with single-sign-on access via Microsoft Azure / Shibboleth where learners can find resources / place holds / create and save resource lists and create references / bibliographies. The online platform should be capable of incorporating wider searches into it (Ted Talks, Google Scholar etc.). Coleg Gwent has 5 libraries on 5 different campuses so the system would need to support multiple libraries / campuses. We would need around 18 staff logins, though they would not always be used concurrently. The College would need the automated transfer of learner data from our student data system (EBS) into the library management system, and for this to be updated to reflect learners that are withdrawn from college etc. over time. We currently have around 32,000 items on the catalogue and this is increasing over time as we catalogue new items and different resources. We would like the function or a report capable of auto-renewing items for learners. Coleg Gwent are looking for a system that offers staff good levels of automation and clear workflows for cataloguing and for a reporting system that is powerful but easy to use. The learner experience is going to be key, so the online catalogue / mobile app / mobile responsive website is going to be key. Accessibility is also very high on the agenda as well as offering a bi-lingual online catalogue (even better if it can be multi-lingual to support learners with other language needs as well).
