SOFT MARKET TESTING: TAMESIDE & OLDHAM BREASTFEEDING PEER SUPPORT SERVICE

<p>Tameside Council and Oldham Council would like to take the opportunity to do some &lsquo;soft market testing&rsquo; to determine current interest levels in the market. The goal of peer support is to encourage and support pregnant women and those who are breastfeeding. It should include individual support as well as peer-to-peer support groups. The service will engage with all new mothers resident in Tameside and Oldham, including those mothers who have given birth outside of Tameside or Oldham, to provide support and early identification of potential problems. The service will support new mothers to encourage them to initiate and sustain exclusive or any breastfeeding for at least 6 &ndash; 8 weeks and up to 6 months.
