Tender description
The Supplier is requested to fabricate components for modular temporary working platform as per designers drawings and specification (to be supplied by Align JV). The platform must be able to be erected and dismantled within the tunnel environment using HIAB (or similar) to lift/move the components. Any lifting eyes/points must be clearly identified and load tested as per design drawings. The platform must be able to safely support the loadings as detailed in the design drawings. As shown the platform must be modular and be able to extend or reduce in size as per the requirements of Align JV. Any fixings used to secure the structure to the tunnel lining and invert must be of removable mechanical type so that any drilled holes can be easily caulked. Upon completion of fabrication of the structure the Supplier is to demonstrate buildability of the complete working platform prior to delivery to site either in their own workshop or by visiting site. The Supplier is to provide any training (if necessary) to Align JV operatives to enable them to subsequently erect and dismantle the working platform as the tunnelling works progress. The package will be competitively tendered and assessed against a split between commercial (price) and non-commercial/technical criteria - The intention of the Contractor that these works will be tendered as 1 enquiry, however we reserve the right to split the works and award the package to more than 1 sub-contractor. In July 2017, ALIGN (Bouygues Travaux Publics, Sir Robert McAlpine and Volker Fitzpatrick) won the significant C1 package of the UK High Speed 2 line (HS2). Lot C1 consists of 21.6km of high speed rail infrastructure in a rural environment. This will include a 3.37km viaduct, 15.75km twin-tubes tunnel and five vent shafts handling both piston effect and tunnel ventilation.
