Tender description

The Longford Heritage Office is inviting suitably-qualified and experienced teams to undertake field surveys on identified sites to Fossit Level 3 standards in 2021. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES The aims of the 2021 Field Survey are: • To survey wetland sites identified in the 2017 desktop study within the County to Fossitt Level 3 and assess their biodiversity value. The area for prioritisation will be the Camlin River corridor. • Note the condition of the site and provide baseline recommendations for conservation priorities. • Collate the information for inclusion on the Longford-Roscommon Wetland Survey 2017 – Phase 1 Desktop Study STUDY AREA The successful consultant(s) will be invited to review and select an agreed number of locations in County Longford, that are of potential biodiversity significance. It is requested that in 2021 the Camlin River corridor from its headwater at the Rhyne River near Granard, through to where it meets Lough Ree, including tributaries, be be prioritised. Protected sites, managed by the NPWS, and lands owned by Bord na Móna are excluded, as a significant body of information exists on the condition and biodiversity of these sites. Non-designated sites, in proximity to designated areas/Bord na Móna lands should be prioritised, as should locations close to the proposed Mid-Shannon Wilderness Park.
