Tender description
We will be awarding a contract for the Direct Production (DP) of timber in the Central England District, specifically the harvesting, extraction and presentation of timber products at roadside. Lot 1: Bagots Lot 1 is to harvest c.3750T from Bagots Wood near Abbots Bromley, Staffordshire and present the roundwood products to roadside as detailed by the contract manager. The majority will be softwoods, with a component of mixed broadleaves. The site features Planted Ancient Woodland. The site features Planted Ancient Woodland. High quality EL logs may be presented separately for sale at auction. Lot 3: Tittensor Lot 3 is to harvest c.500T of softwoods from Tittensor Wood, near Stone, Staffordshire and present the roundwood products to roadside as detailed by the contract manager. The site features Planted Ancient Woodland and a Scheduled Ancient Monument. Lot 4: Big Bishops Lot 4 is to harvest 1500T of softwood and hardwood from Big Bishops wood near Loggerheads, Staffordshire and present the roundwood products to roadside as detailed by the contract manager. This site features Planted Ancient Woodland and a Scheduled Ancient Monument. Lot 5: Swynnerton Lot 5 is to harvest c.1200T of softwood from Swynnerton wood near Newcastle Under Lyme, Staffordshire and present the roundwood products to roadside as detailed by the contract manager. This site features Planted Ancient Woodland. Lot 6: Sandy Lane South Lot 6 is to harvest c.1000T of softwoods and mixed broadleaves from Sandy Lane South near Budby, Nottinghamshire and present the roundwood products to roadside as detailed by the contract manager. Some areas, particularly CP, will be strip felled. Lot 7: Cuckney Haywood & Oakfield Plantation Lot 7 is to harvest c.4600T of softwoods and hardwoods from Cuckney Haywood and Oakfield Plantation, two adjacent sites near Market Warsop, Nottinghamshire, and present the roundwood products to roadside as detailed by the contract manager. Lot 8: Owston Lot 8 is to harvest c.1700T comprised mainly of hardwoods from Owston Wood near Withcote, North Northamptonshire and present the roundwood products to roadside as detailed by the contract manager. Owston Wood is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and harvesting plans will be subject to consent from Natural England. Lot 9: Temple Lot 9 is to harvest c.3000T of hardwoods and softwoods from Temple Wood near Kirkby Underwood, North Northamptonshire and present the roundwood products to roadside as detailed by the contract manager. and present the roundwood products to roadside as detailed by the contract manager. This site features Planted Ancient Woodland. Lot 10: Hazelborough South Lot 10 is to harvest c.500t of oak sawlogs and c.500t of oak small roundwood from Hazelborough South wood near Silverstone, South Northamptonshire and present the roundwood products to roadside as detailed by the contract manager. This will entail motor manual felling and extraction by forwarder. Sawlogs will be presented in up to six discrete lots and oak tops presented as two products (processable and non-processable). This site features Planted Ancient Woodland. Lot 11: Fodens Lot 11 is to harvest c.9900T of softwoods from Fodens wood near Cannock, Staffordshire and present the roundwood products to roadside as detailed by the contract manager. This Lot will be thinning only. Lot 12: Chambers Farm Wood Lot 12 is to harvest c.2000T of softwoods and hardwoods from Chamber’s Farm Woods near Wragby, Lincolnshire. The Lot includes two distinct areas on the same site, line thinning of SP and clearance of roadside and rideside mixed BL of varied sizes (including a proportion of mature OK).
