P-006935 Non-clinical sexual health services in Newcastle

<p>Non-clinical sexual health services are an important community based offer for vulnerable groups who may otherwise not seek mainstream sexual health provision. These services are well placed to reach and offer specialist support to vulnerable groups via a range of means including outreach, peer led approaches and online engagement via non-conventional sites. These services cover a wide range of sexual health issues including sexual health promotion, information, advice, STI/HIV testing, pregnancy test, outreach with vulnerable groups and sign posting to clinical health service provision. These services do not include treatment or clinical training of medical and nursing staff and delivered in a range of local and community settings across the city such as schools and community centre buildings, sports clubs, or churches. They compliment the clinical service by providing a holistic approach to health and are targeted at vulnerable groups.</p> <p>We have identified the following targeted vulnerable groups who are at most risk of sexual health inequality as:</p> <ul> <li>Hard to reach young people</li> <li>People with learning disabilities</li> <li>People at risk of sexual exploitation and/or sex workers</li> <li>People living with HIV+</li> </ul> <p>We would like to invite you to our market engagement session to discuss this offer in Newcastle. The purpose of the session is for us to:</p> <ul> <li>share the analysis of the review undertaken to date;</li> <li>outline how this has influenced our thinking for these services going forward;</li> <li>provide an opportunity for us to work in collaboration with stakeholders to review our thinking within each vulnerable group to ensure we design a non-clinical model that meets the future needs of our city; and</li> <li>outline the next steps and timescales.</li> </ul> <p>Please see attached advert for event details.&nbsp;</p> Keywords: sexual health, learning disabilities, HIV, community, young people, sexual exploitation
