Baseline Carbon Footprint Assessment and Science Based Target Setting

Tender description

Tenderers are invited to submit a tender proposal to undertake a baseline carbon footprint assessment and to use this baseline information to assist EirGrid Group to identify a plan of work to achieve Science Based Targets (SBTs) . The scope of Requirements is expected to include, but is not limited to: Step 1: Map the As Is’ baseline: Carry out a baseline carbon footprint assessment across EirGrid Group aligned with the GHG Protocol Organisational Footprint Standard to include: o Completion of a value chain mapping and scoping exercise o An assessment of the impact of EirGrid Group’s own operations (Scope 1 and 2) o An assessment of EirGrid Group’s upstream and downstream emissions across the value chain (Scope 3) including a supplier environmental assessment. Step 2: Map the ‘To be’ ambition: Identify the Science Based Targets pathway for EirGrid Group to include: o Advise on the best target setting method for EirGrid Group (sector-based, absolute or economic) o Building on the results of Step 1 above, and the chosen SBT target setting method utilise internationally recognised best practice methods to map reduction pathways that ensure the company’s emission reduction targets reflect climate science. Step 3: Plan the Transition: Support EirGrid Group to implement actions to achieve these targets to include: o Develop an implementation plan which outlines how the required emissions reduction can be achieved o Map out the expected business benefits of each supporting action in addition to the emissions reduction impact and any expected social impacts. o Advise on best practice methodologies for engaging key internal and external stakeholders (supply and value chain) to play their role in helping EirGrid Group to achieve its targets. Step 4: Science Based Targets: o Support EirGrid Group to submit its commitment letter to the Science Based Targets Initative o Support EirGrid Group to submit its targets for recognition by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi).
