Tender description

Most of the Merseyside coast and estuaries is of international importance for nature conservation. The Liverpool City Region (LCR) Local Authorities have been working on establishing a LCR Recreation Mitigation and avoidance Strategy (RMS) that will enable them to meet their legal duties to protect these internationally important wildlife sites from the impacts of recreation, associated with new housing and tourism development brought forward through the planning process, both in terms of the allocation of sites for future development in local plans and the consideration of individual planning applications. This work is being managed by Merseyside Environmental Advisory Service (MEAS) on behalf of the LCR Local Authorities. MEAS are funded by the LCR local authorities to provide specialist environmental advice mainly in respect of the planning process. They also maintain the Historic Environment Record for Merseyside.
