<p>. The SEND Code of Practice outlines the Local Authorities responsibility to &lsquo;make disagreement resolution services available to parent/carers and young people &hellip; it must be independent from the Local Authority&hellip; parents and young people can access informal support in resolving disagreements through the local impartial Information, Advice and Support Service&hellip; Mediation arrangements are specifically linked to the decisions about EHC needs, assessment and plans&hellip; Local Authorities must make arrangements for parents and young people to receive information about mediation so that they can take part in mediation if they so choose before a possible appeal to the tribunal&rsquo;.</p> <p>The Disagreement Resolution &amp; Mediation Service is a jointly commissioned independent service which offers disagreement resolution and mediation for young people and their parents/carers.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>The purpose of the service is to:</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>Support with the process of resolving disagreements between parent/carers, young people and the Local Authority.</li> <li>Support with the process of resolving disagreements between parent/carers, young people and education provisions.</li> <li>Support with the process of resolving disagreements between parent/carers, young people and Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCG) or Local Authorities about health or social care provision.</li> <li>Support with the process of resolving disagreements between Local Authorities and the CCG.</li> <li>To offer advice, information and guidance regarding the process of mediations and disagreement resolutions to young people and their parent/carers.</li> <li>To facilitate mediations according to the SEND Code of Practice (2015).</li> </ul> Keywords: disagreement, mediation, resolution
