Tender description
HS Wales Shared Services Partnership invites interested Suppliers to tender for a National Framework Agreement for the Supply of Neurology Consumables. The University Hospital of Wales is the specialist Neurosurgery Centre for Wales. Emergency neurosurgery and cranial neurosurgery previously undertaken at Morriston Hospital, Swansea has now been transferred to the University Hospital of Wales. Lot 1: Aneurysm Clips Lot 1: An aneurysm clip is a metal clip which is placed over the neck of an Aneurysm to treat. Neurosurgery is a high risk and complex specialty with a high proportion of emergency and urgent work. It is a diverse specialty and includes acute and longer term care, of patients with disorders of the brain, spinal cord, nerves, skull and spine. It incorporates the management of patients with tumours, haemorrhages, hydrocephalus, trauma, spinal degenerative disease, congenital abnormalities, intractable pain, movement disorders, epilepsy and some mental disorders. There are close links with Neurology, Critical Care, Paediatric Neurology and Neuroradiology. Lot 2: Cerebral Spinal Fluid Management Lot 2A: Cerebral Spinal Fluid Management - Cerebral Catheters and Accessories. Cerebral Catheters are used to facilitate drainage of Cerebral Spinal Fluid from the ventricles by means of a silicone catheter with or without an antibiotic coating, made of a barium-impregnrated radiopaque silicone material Lot 2B: Cerebral Spinal Fluid Management - Cerebral Reservoirs. Cerebral Reservoirs are used to facilitate aspiration of Cerebral Spinal Fluid, or for the delivery of drugs (e.g. chemotherapy into the Cerebral Spinal Fluid). Lot 2C: Cerebral Spinal Fluid Management - Cerebral Shunts and Valves. Cerebral Shunts and Valves are used to facilitate intra-corporeal drainage of Cerebral Spinal Fluid in patients with chronic high Intra Cranial Pressure or Hydrocerphalus and allow for a differential and regulared flow of Cerebral Spinal Fluid from the brain to another visceral organ. Neurosurgery is a high risk and complex specialty with a high proportion of emergency and urgent work. It is a diverse specialty and includes acute and longer term care, of patients with disorders of the brain, spinal cord, nerves, skull and spine. It incorporates the management of patients with tumours, haemorrhages, hydrocephalus, trauma, spinal degenerative disease, congenital abnormalities, intractable pain, movement disorders, epilepsy and some mental disorders. There are close links with Neurology, Critical Care, Paediatric Neurology and Neuroradiology. Lot 3: Cranial Closure Lot 3A: Cranial Closure - Cranial Fixation Lot 3B: Cranial Closure - Cranial Sealants/Patch. A Cranial patch is made of synthetic, biodegradable nanofibers meant to be affixed to the dura mater - the protective membrane underneath the skill that keeps the brain and spinal cord safe after cranial neurosurgery. A Cranial sealant is an adjunct to standard methods of dural repair, such as sutures, to provide watertight closure during both cranial and spinal procedures. Lot 3C: Cranial Closure - Cranial Clips and Pins. Cranial clips and pins are designed for being attached to the scalp flap for safe and adequate haemostasis during a craniotomy procedure. It is a diverse specialty and includes acute and longer term care, of patients with disorders of the brain, spinal cord, nerves, skull and spine. It incorporates the management of patients with tumours, haemorrhages, hydrocephalus, trauma, spinal degenerative disease, congenital abnormalities, intractable pain, movement disorders, epilepsy and some mental disorders. There are close links with Neurology, Critical Care, Paediatric Neurology and Neuroradiology. Lot 4: Neurosurgical Drills and Accessories Lot 4A: Neurosurgical Drills and Accessories - Cranial High Speed Surgical Drills & Attachments. A Cranial High Speed Surgical Drill is used to facilitate functionality to perforables, burs, shavers, craniotomes e.t.c. Lot 4B: Neurosurgical Drills and Accessories - Cranial Perforators. A Cranial Perforator is used to facilitate access into the cranium and should form bone-pad to protect the Dura (lining of tissue surrounding/protecting the brain). Neurosurgery is a high risk and complex specialty with a high proportion of emergency and urgent work. It is a diverse specialty and includes acute and longer term care, of patients with disorders of the brain, spinal cord, nerves, skull and spine. It incorporates the management of patients with tumours, haemorrhages, hydrocephalus, trauma, spinal degenerative disease, congenital abnormalities, intractable pain, movement disorders, epilepsy and some mental disorders. There are close links with Neurology, Critical Care, Paediatric Neurology and Neuroradiology. Lot 5: Neurosurgical Navigation & Monitoring Lot 5A: Neurosurgical Navigation & Monitoring - Neurophysiological Monitoring EMG/EEG Accessories. Lot 5B: Neurosurgical Monitoring Neurosurgery is a high risk and complex specialty with a high proportion of emergency and urgent work. It is a diverse specialty and includes acute and longer term care, of patients with disorders of the brain, spinal cord, nerves, skull and spine. It incorporates the management of patients with tumours, haemorrhages, hydrocephalus, trauma, spinal degenerative disease, congenital abnormalities, intractable pain, movement disorders, epilepsy and some mental disorders. There are close links with Neurology, Critical Care, Paediatric Neurology and Neuroradiology. Lot 6: Neurosurgical Miscellaneous Products Lot 6: Neurosurgical Miscellaneous Products - Miscellaneous Products Neurosurgery is a high risk and complex specialty with a high proportion of emergency and urgent work. It is a diverse specialty and includes acute and longer term care, of patients with disorders of the brain, spinal cord, nerves, skull and spine. It incorporates the management of patients with tumours, haemorrhages, hydrocephalus, trauma, spinal degenerative disease, congenital abnormalities, intractable pain, movement disorders, epilepsy and some mental disorders. There are close links with Neurology, Critical Care, Paediatric Neurology and Neuroradiology. Lot 7: Neurosurgical Radiology Products Lot 7: Neuroradiology Consumables Neurosurgery is a high risk and complex specialty with a high proportion of emergency and urgent work. It is a diverse specialty and includes acute and longer term care, of patients with disorders of the brain, spinal cord, nerves, skull and spine. It incorporates the management of patients with tumours, haemorrhages, hydrocephalus, trauma, spinal degenerative disease, congenital abnormalities, intractable pain, movement disorders, epilepsy and some mental disorders. There are close links with Neurology, Critical Care, Paediatric Neurology and Neuroradiology. Lot 8: Neurosurgical Innovation Framework Contractors may have existing supply capability in the previous 7 lots and wish to tender their innovation offering linked to the supply of their products and or alternative products / services. Alternatively Contractors may only wish to be considered for the neurosurgical innovations lot. These innovations may include a combination of equipment, consumables, implants and services that may arise over the term of the framework that will support the implementation of a value based procurement focused on enhanced patient experiences and patient outcomes.
