Supply of Network Equipment for Beamlines

Tender description

This procurement is to deliver network switch upgrades to replace end of life equipment and deliver network infrastructure to meet the expected demands of the affected beamlines for the next 5 years. Lot 1: A number of beamlines at DLS are relying on Avaya 55xx network switches to deliver network infrastructure within the beamline and uplinks to the core switches of the science network. These models will go ‘End of Life’ (EOL) in December 2021. This procurement will provide equipment to replace all of these switches and, in the process, provide sufficient network bandwidth both within the beamline and up to core, to meet the expected demands of the beamline and associated instruments for the next five years. This will include some upgrades to 40Gb uplinks and greater provision of 10Gb links where necessary (please see specification for more details).
