Tender description

Appropriate adults achieve a fairer justice system by safeguarding the welfare and rights of children and vulnerable adults detained or interviewed by Police. The Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE (1984) Code C (revised 2019) sets out the Police responsibility to determine who is a vulnerable adult. Police custody staff are required to provide an appropriate adult to support a vulnerable person in the absence of a relative, guardian, other person responsible for their care or any appropriate friend or other suitable adult.
