QUB/2030/20 — Contract for the Provision of Gas Detection and Gas Controls Maintenance Services

Tender description

This contract is for the provision of gas detection and gas controls maintenance services to Queen’s University Belfast. The scope of this contract includes the following: • planned preventative maintenance; • reactive maintenance — repairs and a 24-hour call out service; • end of life sensor cell replacement; • sensor upgrading and replacement; • supply, installation and commissioning of gas controls systems throughout the campus, there are currently 94 boiler house and kitchen gas detection systems, 255 lab gas detection systems, 20 gas isolation systems and we estimate approximately 1 500 sensor cells will need to be replaced over the course of the 5 year contract (including options). It should be noted that the contract is primarily for the provision of both planned and reactive maintenance. Major and Minor projects carry out new installations and refurbishments where the provision for gas detection may be tendered separately. Lot 1: This contract is for the provision of gas detection and gas controls maintenance services to Queen’s University Belfast. The scope of this contract includes the following: • planned preventative maintenance; • reactive maintenance — repairs and a 24-hour call out service; • end of life sensor cell replacement; • sensor upgrading and replacement; • supply, installation and commissioning of gas controls systems. The gas detection systems covered by this contract include those in boiler houses, kitchens and laboratories, in addition to gas controls and gas pressure proving systems. Throughout the campus, there are approximately 94 boiler house and kitchen gas detection systems, 255 lab gas detection systems, 20 gas isolation systems and we estimate approximately 687 sensor cells will need to be replaced over the course of the contract. There are several different manufacturers in use, including Oldham, S&S Northern, Crowcon, Flamefast and Analox. It should be noted that the contract is primarily for the provision of both planned and reactive maintenance. Major and Minor projects carry out new installations and refurbishments where the provision for gas detection may be tendered separately. Laboratory gas detection sensors will be replaced in a planned and coordinated manner at the end of their life cycle. A specific programme will be developed and agreed with the contractor after the first PPM service has been completed.
