Provision of Cereal, Crop and Agricultural Inputs Data

Tender description

The requirement is to facilitate the effective development of the Authority's statistics on agriculture, commodities and food in line with Departmental objectives. The objectives are: (a) Provision of information and advice on cereal supply and utilisation, especially on farm feeding, in connection with a regular programme of commodity reviews through which the official forecast cereal supply and demand balance sheet for the current season is constructed. (b) Provision of annual yield and production data for specified fodder crops (hay, straw, green forage maize and field peas), information on the tonnage of farm saved seed, sowing rates for cereal seed and estimates of volume (or in some cases value) of agricultural inputs along with selected outputs expressed as a percentage change from the previous year. The data is used for the construction of the annual aggregate accounts for agriculture which are returned to The Office of National Statistics as part of agriculture's contribution to the National Account, and for information published in the annual publication, Agriculture in the United Kingdom. (c) Data can also be used to deal with individual requests for information from Ministers, Other Government Departments, Local authorities and the general public.
