ODA ICF - Establish a Global Centre for Biodiversity and Climate activity on NbS

Tender description

On the 18th May between 4:15-5:30pm, as part of the Climate Exp0 Nature day event, Defra will be hosting an Early Market Engagement (EME) event for the Global Centre of Excellence (GCOE). The GCOE will be a world-class centre that conducts, synthesises and communicates research and development to drive a global scale up of investment in Nature based Solutions (NbS) policy and implementation. The GCOE is the largest component of a Defra International Climate Finance NbS Research & Development Programme. We want the GCOE to bring together the best knowledge and expertise in NbS, across multiple disciplines, to identify and fill critical evidence, data and technology gaps surrounding the scale up and implementation of NbS. The GCOE will produce accessible outputs which will promote the large-scale uptake of NbS globally. These products will help support government and private sector decision makers and NbS practitioners in developing countries, to identify, design and deliver efficient and effective NbS interventions in a variety of ecosystems. At the EME, Defra will engage with the market through discussion around the GCOE’s aims, rationale, focus areas and outcomes, as well as scoping out what other work in this area currently looks like.
