This Competition is divided into 2 Lots. Suppliers may tender for individual or multiple lots. Tenders are sought for the supply, delivery & installation of a Twin Screw Extruder (TSE) & a Flow chemistry system. Lot 1 The twin screw extruder (TSE) equipment will be placed in the Pharmaceutical Processing suite in the Bernal Institute and presents an excellent addition to our facilities. It will be used for research activities as well as training and capabilities demonstration within the Process Engineering Cluster. The TSE continuous processing techniques have many unique advantages such as processing, reaction, and formulation vessel due to their relatively narrow residence time distribution and their ability to remove heat, devolatilize unwanted by-products and process high viscosity materials. Lot 2 Flow Chemistry System. The system will also be placed in the in the Pharmaceutical Processing suite in the Bernal Institute and will also be used for research activities as well as training and capabilities demonstration within the Process Engineering Cluster. Flow chemistry reactor systems facilitate rapid heat and mass transfer enabling reaction chemistry that would otherwise be unfeasible with standard batch scale laboratory equipment. Continuous flow chemistry systems are inherently greener, using less solvent and generating less waste, and safer, reducing operator exposure to large processing streams, than their batch scale counterparts. With automated setup and inline measurement, continuous flow chemistry reduces the variation seen in manual experimental and analytical technique.
