Tender description

Tenders are invited for carrying out a survey to find the levels of Campylobacter in broilers from small poultry slaughterhouses in the UK which are not currently carrying out sampling. Sampling will be carried out from slaughterhouses with a throughput of under 250,000 birds per year and would include sampling of the neck skin to match with current requirements, and additional ceca samples to gain information about the levels of Campylobacter in broilers from the farms. There are some small plants that use non-routine methods of processing, for example skinning the carcass in-feather or salting of the carcasses. Additional consideration of how sampling can take place for these establishments is required.
