Tender description

Mamafit is a healthy lifestyle programme aimed at pregnant women and new mothers. The service provides 6 antenatal pregnancy sessions, and 6 postnatal sessions for mums and babies. The service is open to any pregnant women/ new mothers but overweight and obese women are targeted proactively for referral. The contract performance is good and measurable outcomes are obtained evidencing a positive change in physical activity levels and wellbeing scores. The sessions are built around physical activity but also cover other aspects of healthy lifestyle including food and wellbeing. There is also a focus within the service on getting ‘fit for birth’. The group activity also helps to reduce isolation for pregnant women and new mothers. •The service is a co-production with Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust and LCC Public Health. Respective financial contributions are £3,000 and £9,040 per annum. •The service is delivered from both Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Hospital and from 3 Children’s Centres around the city. (Currently online during pandemic). •The service takes direct referrals from the Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Hospital Midwifery service, Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust Health Visitor service and self-referrals. •The service compliments provision of the PSS Postnatal Depression service for which Spending Freeze panel has already approved a twelve month extension (approval date 24th February 2021).
