Work Placement Programmes

B&NES will work with and support Women’s Work Lab to deliver their sponsorship, training and work placement programmes. The programmes will focus on building confidence, ambition and employability skills for 45 mothers in the B&NES Council Area via three Training and Placement Programs (15 women per cohort) to be delivered term time and school hours only in 2021. The Women’s Work Lab (WWL) works with other organisations to deliver relevant and appropriate training sessions. The Head of Learning leads all training and brings in specialist partners as required. Examples of these partnerships include: ? Google for #IAmRemarkable training ? and the charity Smart Works for dressing and interview technique coaching. The Program will be establishing work placements for those Mums that are able to work in the organisations across B&NES Council Area that will be confirmed in December 2020. With unemployment soaring, it is essential that we prepare our mums for careers where jobs will exist and there is maximum potential. Research suggests digital/tech, construction and green jobs are particularly needed so we will be focussing on securing placements in these areas. Example partners include: ? Bell Group and ? housing associations such as Sovereign Housing and Curo. Where appropriate, the Women’s Work Lab works with partner organisations, for example where participants may need to be referred to additional support due to experiencing domestic abuse (60% of participants on the February 2020 programme are survivors of domestic) we will work with organisations such as: ? Women’s Aid and ? Next Link. They will also work directly with ? community leaders, ? children’s centres, ? local DWP job coaches, ? online mums groups, ? other employability schemes ? charities and social enterprises involved in women’s interests and employability across the West of England region.
