CLEAPSS is a unique organisation giving schools and advice on practical teaching of science, D&T and food science. CLEAPSS are referenced by HM government as THE source of best practice guidance for the safe delivery of practical education in schools and colleges throughout England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. No other such organisation exists in the UK or overseas. CLEAPPS write detailed guidance specifically for schools on room layout, equipment, teaching practices, behaviour, storage of harmful chemicals, fire risks, COSHH information on the chemicals used in schools science at both Primary and Secondary level. CLEAPSS membership gives schools access to their extensive knowledge via a passworded website, training for teachers in practical lessons as well a training for local government inspectors of schools. CLEAPSS are key inspectors for HM Government helping schools comply with the Ionising Radiation Regulations via a network of site inspectors (H&S Advisors) acting under the guidance of a CLEAPSS officer.
