Tender description
Liverpool currently has a gap within provision aimed at parents of teenage children. After researching programmes across the UK the Take 3 is considered the most appropriate programme to support parents in the city, this programme is used in core cities across the country. Leeds parenting workers use the Take 3 programme as part of their offer, they state that it supports the work that they perform with parents and offers positive interventions to parents of teenagers. Tug Training are now offering online training which is £2500 for 8 professionals can be trained in to support families. Take 3 Programme is a comprehensive evidence-based parenting programme for working with groups of parents of 10-18 year-olds, and especially with parents of at-risk or vulnerable young people. It has also been used extensively for one-to-one interventions with ‘hard-to-reach’ parents. Take 3 was originally created for use within the Youth Justice context and then developed over an eight-year period before publication in 2008, incorporating feedback from parents and facilitators so as to hone it down to ‘what works’. The programme incorporates current information about teenage brain research – vital knowledge for parents about how teenagers develop and why they might be behaving in the way that they do. The training will be offered to services within the local authority, the intention will be to offer training to LCC YOT & Adolescent Team, YPAS and Kinship carers. The programme looks at the following areas; • To improve relationships between young people and their families; • To improve young people’s behaviour at home, at school and in the wider community. • To develop strategies for parents of teenagers whose behaviour is quite challenging, who were not going to school, who were offending or at risk of offending.
