Tender description

The supply of prototype mould service provider to Athlone Institute of Technology. The duration of the framework agreement will be for a period of one (1) year with the option to extend it for a further three (3) 12-month periods. The Materials Research Institute at Athlone Institute of Technology has a long history of managing and delivering successful research for the benefit of industry. In the seven years since the establishment of the APT Technology Gateway, the polymer team have attracted in excess of EUR 17 million of funding for projects collaborating with the Irish plastics industry. The Technology Gateway continues to underpin an AIT strategic research goal to develop strong nationally and internationally recognised centres and groups within the MRI, which are independent yet closely aligned. The key Objectives of the APT gateway are to: • offer companies, locally and nationally, access to world-class R&D infrastructure, expertise and resources; • use technological expertise to generate solutions for the close-to-market needs of Irish industry, as identified by our broad polymer and plastics industry client base, which will underpin sustainability, support exports and drive job creation; • form partnerships with industry to work on challenging problems, provide R&D support and facilitate technology transfer to companies; • provide an open access point to industry for the provision of applied research and technical expertise, not just within AIT but within the wider technology gateway network and greater Irish research infrastructure framework.
