Tender description
The Embassy of Ireland’s Mission Strategy 2018-2022, has the key objective of developing and consolidating political, economic and cultural relations with Zambia. In line with the Africa strategy, the Embassy of Ireland in Zambia is in the process of deepening relationships with the relevant trade bodies and building contacts to strengthen the trade and investment relations between our two countries. A trade facilitation strategy has been prepared with a focus on identification of market opportunities, promoting a more conducive enabling environment, supporting improved institutional capacity, and negotiating facilitation of potential Irish FDI. These goals also support our goals in reducing poverty through opportunity creation, technology and skills transfer, with an emphasis on food production, renewable energies and climate-change responsive sectors. Initial engagement with the Zambia Development Agency (the investment promotion authority) has highlighted a number of areas for potential cooperation. A focus on SME support and small scale entrepreneurship forms a major part of ZDA’s strategic vision. There are difficulties in attracting transformative FDI (mining dominates the foreign investment) and the development of a strategic approach to the facilitation and promotion of investment opportunities. Sharing experience of the Irish Investment promotion model and institutional framework is a desired outcome of this project, and should contribute to greater familiarity with Ireland as a trade and investment partner. The Embassy is seeking to identify a supplier for professional training to the Zambian Investment Promotion Agencies and related institutions. See RFT for details
