Tender description
Kirklees Council (‘the Council’) has commissioned a service to provide carers’ breaks and emergency carers breaks within the Kirklees area. This has been achieved by the provision of a service delivered to the person the carer cares for (‘Cared-for-Person’ or ‘Service User’). The tender was divided into 2 lots: Lot 1: Carers' breaks service — the aim of this service is to provide opportunities for eligible carers to experience a break by taking over their caring role and providing support directly to the cared-for person allowing the carer to achieve their identified outcomes; Lot 2: Short notice emergency carer breaks — the aim of this service is to provide emergency carer breaks at short notice, to reduce pressure on carers when they are struggling to continue with their caring role. Due to the anticipated value of the service, the contract was awarded by a process akin to the competitive procedure with negotiation without further publication of a call for competition.
