Grant - City Wide Evidence Based Parenting Courses

The City of York Council (CYC) is looking to commission a Supplier to deliver 12 x 10 week parenting courses which will include evidence-based parenting modules and emotional resilience modules to parents and carers of children and young people aged 5- 11 years. The courses should equip parents and carers with the practical skills and social support networks to help them support their children’s social, emotional and educational development. The key outcomes the service must achieve are: • Improved parent self-confidence. • Parents gain techniques and skills for supporting their children to improve mental strength and wellbeing. • Greater ability to set routines • Greater understanding of a child’s emotional and development needs at different age ranges • Improved self-awareness / emotional intelligence • Reduced parental stress • Improve positive experiences and stimulation for children. • Evidence of how the course has captured the voice of the child and Improved parent-child relationship. • Enable parents and carers to support children’s transitions, changes and pressures from school or in the home environment. A number of these outcomes have been identified based on research showing that interventions addressing these issues are the most successful in improving outcomes for children, as well as the specific parenting needs identified within York.
