United Utilities is a large energy consumer, looking to deliver value in demand side flexibility through National Grid’s balancing services and the capacity market, along with optimising value via the wholesale energy market. United Utilities is a large energy consumer, using around 800 GWh of electricity each year to provide essential water and wastewater services across the North West of England. As part of our energy strategy, we wish to continue to develop our capability to deliver value through National Grid’s balancing services and the capacity market. We are also interested in optimising value via the wholesale energy market. We are looking to develop a close partnership with a supplier who can access such markets on our behalf; providing expert technical advice and identifying new value opportunities, with a proven track record of delivering a reliable, transparent aggregated service. Visualisation of performance and outage/exception monitoring is essential and an appreciation of our core business operations is desirable. We are open to utilising the best technology available to deliver value in the short and long term. We are keen to understand commercial models which share investment, benefits and risk in innovative ways. United Utilities are seeking to gather information from suppliers with a capability to provide the services detailed above.
