Digital Aerial Waterbird and Seabird Surveys

Tender description

The Marine Institute, a semi State body, wishes to invite tenders for the supply of a Series of Waterbird and Seabird surveys in intertidal and inshore waters off the west and south coast of Ireland between November 2019 and March 2020. Associated reports must be completed by end August 2020. The Marine Institute requires data on the distribution of wading birds and seabirds in Blacksod Bay, Tralee Bay, Dingle Bay, and Dungarvan Bay (Figure 1) - (details of these locations and the expected bird species composition are in Annex 3). Data and imagery will be acquired using digital aerial survey. Deliverables include raw data, imagery, GIS files and where appropriate population estimates for each species. Counts of marine mammals by species and aquaculture installations encountered opportunistically during the survey should be included. Depending on costs a time series of surveys will be completed in the area between November 2019 and March 2020. Reports of surveys should be submitted by August 2020.
