Tender description

The Centre for Research in Engineering Surface Technology (CREST) in Technological University Dublin is seeking to purchase Lot 1 - a handheld and mobile testing equipment capable of X-ray fluorescence analysis (XRF) The purpose of this equipment is to perform non-destructive elemental analysis of a large variety of sample materials, including paints, mid-density materials, liquids, slurries, powders, thin films, soils, sediment, sludge, cellulose, polymers, plastic paper, plastics, rubbers, solids, metals, glasses, solders, a wide range of alloys, and various geological, mining & environmental samples. The range of materials analysed will also be broad in terms of physical size (sub mg-Kg). The samples can be analysed in CREST laboratories, Technological University Dublin or on-site. Examples of use should include the following -Site inspection and verification in the use of correct alloy in structures, -The presence of lead in historic buildings or asset-coatings, in terms of maintenance or restoration. Lot 2 - X-ray diffractometer instrument (XRD) The purpose of this equipment is to allow the analysis of a large variety of crystalline materials organic or mineral including powders, thin films, polymers, solids, metals, concretes, capillaries samples.
