Social work services with accommodation

Tender description

In order to meet 1 of Dumfries and Galloway Council's priority to ‘Protect the Most Vulnerable People’, the service supports the second priority of Equally Safe (2018): Scotland's strategy for preventing and eradicating violence against women and girls. The second priority: intervening early and effectively to prevent violence and maximising the safety and well-being of women, children and young people is achieved by the provision of refuge and outreach support for women and children experiencing domestic abuse. This support aims to achieve the following outcomes: — women and children are safe and can protect themselves from domestic abuse, — women are able to manage their own and their children’s health and well-being, — women and children are in good quality, settled accommodation, which meets their needs, — women have developed a support network within the community, — women are successfully managing any legal issues, — women are able to cope independently with money matters and personal administration, — women have quality time with friends and family, — women are able to take control of decisions affecting life and feel confident and positive, — women have the skills necessary for employment or education. There are currently 3 separate contracts (DGC Social Work, DGC Outreach Housing Support/Temporary Accommodation with Support and NHS) with Dumfries and Stewartry Women’s Aid. A contract review was urgently required as the DGC contracts are outdated and it was agreed through this review process that as there is no other agency in the locality which could provide specialist support including refuge for women experiencing domestic abuse, that a new single contract would be co-produced by all the partners.
