Provision of skipper services for the inshore survey vessel M.V.T. Burke 11

Tender description

Provision of skipper services as BIM undertakes inshore surveys (primarily seed mussel surveys) with its vessel the M.V.T. Burke II. The vessel (12m catamaran) is fitted with a variety of survey equipment including a side scan sonar, grab, dredge, an underwater camera and Remote Operated Vehicles (ROV). The vessel is licensed as a Passenger vessel (P5 licence) for 6 passengers and the skipper. A full stability book is available on board. The areas covered in the survey work span from Galway Bay on the West coast to Roaring water Bay on the south coast, also from Baltimore to Carnsore Point on the east coast and up to Carlingford Lough. In addition, surveys have been carried out around Inishbofin, Inishturk and Lough Swilly. Survey areas are decided by the survey officer following industry reports, historical areas or areas from special request. The main use for the vessel is seed mussel survey; however, it can used as a platform for dive operations. Due to weather and sea conditions, no specific amount of days per year can be allocated. Based on the 2019 Vessel work schedule, an average of 60 days per year could be expected, but not limited to this amount.
