Tender description
Authority: Ministry of Justice Title: Forensic Psychologist Qualification The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) is a major government department, at the heart of the justice system. We work to protect and advance the principles of justice and our vision is to deliver a world-class justice system that works for everyone in society. The MoJ is a ministerial department, supported by 32 agencies and public bodies and employees over 68,000 people and is responsible for the following parts of the justice system: - Courts, Prisons, Probation Services, Attendance centres. The MOJ works together and with other government departments and agencies to bring the principles of justice to life for everyone in society. From our civil courts, tribunals and family law hearings, to criminal justice, prison and probation services. We work to ensure that sentences are served and offenders encouraged to turn their lives around. Psychologists have been directly employed by Her Majesty's Prison Service (HMPS) and the National Probation Service (NPS) for many years. At the time of writing HMPS/NPS Psychologists are dispersed across England and Wales but not based in every prison or Probation Local Delivery Unit (LDU). There are existing regional boundaries for both services. Practicing Qualified Psychologists are required to be on a statutory register with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) under Section 60 of the Health Professions Act 2000. The core business critical work of HMPPS Psychologists is to focus on justice based outcomes related to risk management of offenders. Psychologists undertaking Parole Board directed work of this nature or in other legal settings, need to be qualified and registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC). While in training their work must be supervised by a Qualified Psychologist. The Opportunity In order to register as a qualified psychologist with the HCPC an individual has to have completed an HCPC accredited route to qualification. Currently the academic entrance criteria for a trainee psychologist is a BPS accredited Master's Degree in Forensic Psychology together with a BPS accredited Bachelor's degree in Psychology (referred to as Graduate Basis for Registration). HMPPS require the provision of a route to qualification for those practicing in the field of forensic psychology. As a minimum, the qualification should meet the requirements of the HCPC for registration as a forensic psychologist. The qualification provided should be time-bound and allow candidates to register with the HCPC within four years of enrolment. The MoJ are is seeking to procure Universities to provide the qualification route for our trainee psychologists to become qualified psychologists Expression of Interest Please can you by return of this email notify the Authority if you are interested in bidding for this service by 12noon 26th February 2020
