Grant - Support Services for Children and Young People Affected By or Witnessing Domestic Violence

The City of York Council (CYC) is looking to commission a supplier to deliver support services for children and young people affected by or having witnessed domestic abuse. The supplier must have evidence of providing quality services that seek to address and reduce instances of domestic abuse. The supplier must also have experience of delivering 1:1 and group work for children and young people and demonstrate examples of whole family working. The supplier must demonstrate a commitment to partnership working across the third sector, local authorities, police and other relevant organisations. One to one work should provide children and young people with an experienced worker who can provide a positive and co-operative relationship with the child/young person, facilitate therapeutic and resilience building strategies and involve key family members in supporting these as an ongoing plan. One to one work should occur for a specific time period but the essential components should include creating a caring, empathetic and consistent relationship in an informal, safe and positive environment. Group work sessions will focus on providing emotional support and safety planning to children who are affected by their experiences of domestic abuse. The voice of the child will be explored and strategies for staying safe and building resilience through positive peer relationships will be promoted.
